Last night the ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations was awarded the overall Award for Excellence in the ACT Chief Minister's Inclusions Awards. Council also took out the Education and Training section of the awards, which recognise businesses, organisations and individuals which have excelled in encouraging, welcoming and supporting people with a disability in their community.

The ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations calls upon Federal Education Minister Christopher Pyne to honour the Gonski model of school funding for four years. Council is extremely disappointed by Minister Pyne’s announcement last week that his government would walk away from the needs based Gonski model.

The ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations (Council) is pleased to see the release of the analysis regarding the submissions made by Council and 10 other organisations concerning the approval and registration processes for non-government schools in the ACT.

Following today’s ACT budget announcement, the ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations (Council) is pleased to see an increase in expenditure by the ACT Government on public schooling.

The ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations congratulates the ACT Government for today’s signing of the National Education Reform Agreement, which should see significant additional funding for education in the ACT from both the federal and ACT Governments.

ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations Acting President John Haydon will attend the Centenary 2020 Vision Parliament of Youth on Sustainability: Green Paper Update Session this Thursday in support of the work these students are carrying out.

The ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations fully supports the ACT Chief Minister’s “tightening up the decision-making process” for approving new private schools in the ACT, as reported in the Canberra Times today.
