Unique Disability Resource Booklet to be launched by Minister Joy Burch MLA

Minister Joy Burch MLA will be launching the unique ‘Who Can Help?’ booklet, a disability resource guide for youth in the ACT, published by the ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations.

The ‘Who Can Help?’ resource guide lists a range of ACT organisations that offer services for students with a disability, including community services, support groups, post-school options, sport and recreation. The booklet is a whole new approach to disability resources, as it offers a short, simple guide to the services parents and youth need to be readily available.

P&C Council President, Vivienne Pearce says Council took up the initiative of producing the booklet as a way of addressing parental concerns regarding disability services for students in the ACT.
“Parents have been telling us how hard it is to navigate the maze of disability services. The information is often fragmented and at times very overwhelming for parents to find. „Who Can Help?‟ will make this process much easier for these parents and youth” said Ms Pearce.

Media interviews with the Minister and parents of children with disabilities will be available after the launch at approximately 1.30pm.
