Our annual Policy Conference, along with a Forum to dicsuss alternative P&C Business Models.

Tuesday 25 September

6:45 for 7pm start. Ends 9:30pm. 51 Fremantle Drive, Stirling. All welcome.

At the Policy Conference, we discuss and up-date Council Policy

Two new policies are to be considered (read the draft):

  1. Inclusive Education Policy . This policy clearly embeds Council’s and community expectations around inclusive education, which were impliedly present in some of Council’s other policies. The policy will allow Council to advocate our position on inclusive education to the Education Directorate, Education Minister and ACT Government. This policy was considered by Council’s Executive in April this year and has in-principle support. It is proposed that the inclusive education policy will be added to section A of Council’s current Policy Document.
  2. School capacity, specialist facilities and outdoor space  The proposed policy will allow Council to advocate for the exclusion of specialist school facilities such as libraries etc, from the EDU’s capacity calculations. This policy is a new addition to Council’s policy document, located at G3.

Note: Council proposed to develop policies for Cultural Integrity and Managing violence, however these concepts are not fully developed at this time. Council will continue work on these concepts and may introduce these policies at a later stage.
P&C Delegates and or their representatives are welcome to discuss these proposed policies with their P&Cs and provide feedback before, or at, the Conference.

At the Business Model Forum we will consider the alternative ways for P&Cs to operate into the future, as some P&Cs start to struggle with volunteers and regulatory requirements.

We've come up with some options and have been taking your feedback on them (it's not too late to provide your feedback  via a short survey). All this will provide an excellent starting point to what we hope is a lively and useful discussion of the options and best way forwardfor our parent associations.
