The following Grants accept applications from schools and/or parent associations.

Strengthening P&Cs/Parent Engagement

The ACT Government's Supporting Parental Engagement Grants provide up to $20,000 for projects, training or systems to help strengthen P&Cs or the involvement and engagement of parents and carers in  schools. (See also a PDF version of the funding guidelines.)  There are three rolling assessment rounds, the first of which ends August 7, and the last October 30, 2020.   We have put together some notes to help you apply.

General

Westfield Local Heroes - Funds community nominated individuals with a $10,000 grant to support their affiliated organisation’s work, programs or activities. Nominations close March 16, 2020.

IGA Community Chest - approach your local IGA for funding for small community-building projects.

A quick online application could secure your P&C a grant of $1000-$5000 from Budget Direct. Worth a look if you have a project aimed at making a difference in your local community. Four applications cycles each year.

Damien Greer Lawyers have $1000 community grants for organisations making a difference to their local community. Applications close September 15, 2020.

The SUEZ Community Grants provide grants of between $1,000 and $15,000 to community groups to funding social and environmental projects that contribute to a stronger community and healthier environment. Applications open each year around August/September,

Canberra Southern Cross Club Community Support Grants are annual grants of up to $5000 to support special projects, local events and activities that benefit the Canberra community. Close in April each year.

The ANZ Staff Foundation provides grants of around $5,000 to support a variety of projects from helping disadvantaged youth to the environment. Only P&Cs with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status can apply. Applications are accepted twice a year.

Some ACT Government grants are available to P&Cs and community groups.

Cultural Integrity

NAIDOC Week Grants support community celebrations of the histories, cultures and achievements of of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples during NAIDOC Week each year. Closes 30 March for 2020.

Reconcilation Day Grants of up to $5000 are available for organisations to hold meaningful events in the lead-up to, during, or in support of the Reconciliation Day, 1 June 2020.  Closes 18 March.

Inclusion

I-Day Grants assist individuals and community organisations to run events for the International Day of People with Disability (I-Day; 3 December). Apply online in August each year.

Environment

Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants are open to Australian primary schools for project of up to $1,000 to inspire kids to get hands-on with projects that focus on sustainable food production, improving waste management practices or enhancing native habitats. There is usually a round or two each year.

National Landcare Program - Environment Small Grants include education activities and events which raise community awareness/participation related to protecting and conserving our water, plants, animals and ecosystems. Closed currently, but likely to reopen.

Grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 with the Communities Environment Program usually close in September or October. Contact your local MP's office to submit an expressions of interest on behalf of your P&Cs. A cash or in-kind contribution from your organisation  is encouraged.

Health/Sport

The ACT Health Promotion Innovation Fund provides funding to community groups for projects which improve population-level health outcomes, such as reducing overweight and obesity through improving eating habits and increasing physical activity.  Closes Friday 4 September 2020

Sporting Schools grants to help schools deliver sport-based activities before, during or after school hours, up to $9000.
