Rats of Tobruk

The Governor-General Quentin Bryce unveiled a Rats of Tobruk Memorial Wall at Giralang Primary School in early May.

Present at the assembly were World War II veterans, students, teachers, parents, Council President Viv Pearce, Federal and ACT politicians.

Viv Pearce said the spirit of Anzac was very alive within the school community. 'The partnership between the school and the Rats of Tobruk is a great way for students to appreciate Australian history. It makes it alive and meaningful for them'.

Giralang has a longstanding relationship with the ACT Branch of the Rats of Tobruk.

Members of the Rats of Tobruk Association attend the school's annual Anzac Day ceremonies. Representatives of the school attend the annual anniversary service held at the Rats of Tobruk memorial on Anzac Parade.

Giralang Primary School is the custodian of the Rats of Tobruk ceremonial banner, which is displayed in the front entry of the school.
