Parent representation on committees

Council members are part of many decision-making groups and government committees so that parents' perspectives are represented on many issues. We have representatives on:

  • ACT Curriculum Advisory Group (commenting on curriculum changes)
  • ACTs School Drug Education group
  • Board of Senior Secondary Studies
  • Careers Transitions Advisory Framework
  • College Appeals Review Committee
  • Digital Citizenship Reference Group
  • Disability Education Reference Group (providing parent's input on disability issues)
  • EALD/Literacy and Numeracy Reference Group
  • Safe Schools Roundtable
  • School Transport Liaison Committee (including looking at school bus services)
  • Preschool Matters Consultative Committee

Representative positions on these committees are filled at our Annual General Meeting. Contact us if you are interested.

Council also voices parent concerns with government by:

  • regular meetings with the Education Minister and senior officials from the Education Directorate to raise issues experienced across ACT public schools and have input into emerging policies
  • making formal submissions to official inquiries and government bodies
  • writing submissions on the ACT's annual budget

In addition, we have internal Council Working Groups focusing on making improvements and sharing expertise on specific topics.
